The Latest Help Wanted Ad to Go Viral

Online Retailer posts tongue & cheek ad for a Casual Helper - do you have strong small talk skills & even when you’re really super hung-over you still come in to work on time?

If you liked the style of the Crane Brothers or Murder Burger help wanted ads you may enjoy the latest “Casual helper needed” ad posted by NZ online t-shirt retailer Mr Vintage.

While the Mr Vintage job ad is not as controversial as those published by Crane Brothers or Murder Burger its use of slang and dry humour are things most employers avoid when writing a job vacancy ad.

It seems substantial PR can be gained from an out of the box job advertisement, with the Crane Brothers and Murder Burger ads gaining sizeable media coverage as well as going viral. The staff wanted ad for Auckland’s Ponsonby burger bar, Murder Burger, attracted 665 applicants worldwide and can even be read about in Australian Newspaper The Daily Post - http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/wacky/murder-burgers-staff-wear-meat-is-murder-t-shirts/story-e6frev20-1225729695002

While recent job hunter surveys have revealed there is not necessarily a place for humour in job ads, we liked this ad! Of course humour and a casual writing style may not work for every employer but in this case it does. Despite being humorous the ad gives the reader a crystal clear description of what the role involves – the number one thing job seekers are looking for in job ads!
