Worksafe Victoria has launched the Skeleton Project - where CEO’s go undercover to get a better understanding of safety from a workers perspective.
The Skeleton Project, a new video-led campaign which has seen three high profile CEOs go ‘undercover’ in their business to better understand safety from the perspective of their workers, with a focus on the most common injuries - musculoskeletal injuries.
One of the CEOs involved is Phil Smith, CEO of retail chain Fletcher Jones. Have a look at the video online to see some of the insights Phil uncovered, some of the points are highly relevant to many other retail organisations. Staff at Fletcher Jones have been taking on tasks such as cleaning leaves off the roof to cut-costs for the business, which in turn has put them at risk. Phil has only been CEO for a few months and wants to send a clear message to his workforce that their safety is more important than saving a few dollars here and there. He has made a personal commitment to change the culture at Fletcher Jones in relation to safety.
The Skeleton Project aims to encourage other CEOs and senior management to take a fresh look at what’s happening in their business and open up the lines of communication between senior management and their workers about workplace safety.
Check out the Videos at http://www.worksafeform.com/promo/skeleton/ and let us know what you think. I think the project is a great way of bringing these issues to the forefront. And as a side note – what do you think of the wig and skewed moustache HA!
