
Shoppers once again seemed to favour leaving Christmas shopping to the last minute! (7 Jan 2010)
Welcome to 2010! While many of you are still enjoying your summer holidays the team at Retailworld are back hard at work this week, posting retail job ads online, screening cv’s and interviewing candidates who are looking start the New Year with a fabulous new retail job!
We have also drawn the winners of our Christmas Photo competition, which was run on our Facebook fan page – congratulations to Martin Bremner and Ebrahim Kheriwala who will each be receiving a $100 Westfield Gift Voucher!
The competition that asked entrants to tag themselves in the photo that best represented their Christmas shopping habits revealed that 36% of entrants left their Christmas shopping to a last minute rush. 34% of entrants were planned and methodical shoppers, 18% were waiting until the Boxing Day sales to buy gifts and 12% did their Christmas shopping online.
Reports from the Australian National Retailers Association also highlight the trend of shoppers waiting until the last minute to do their Christmas Shopping reporting retail activity picked up markedly on the 22nd of December.
